Chapter 1
How it started
In 2022 I finally decided to chase down a dream I have had since the age of 14, publishing my own book. However, doing something like that is actually terrifying. It also required a lot of things. Instead of publishing a chapter book for kids, I decided to start small with a picture book. This is how Pickle came to life.

More characters & products
For Pickle I was inspired by my own little lovebird Apache. Though I did decided to use different colors than my own bird. Within a few days I had quite a few stories written. I have more of them written than finished picture books. There are just too many ideas.
Selling my picture books alone didn't feel like enough. Also it was just one character, which was rather boring if you don't like lovebirds. That is when I decided to illustrate more characters which you can learn more about on the cast page. With all those new characters I could now create stickers, buttons, t-shirts and more.

Chapter 3
Business overhaul
I used the first few years to really find what I wanted to sell, what actually worked selling and what style I wanted to draw. In 2026 I overhauled my entire branding and split up my business in two parts; Fictura Books for my books and Fictura for all other art work and products. And that is where we are today.
What I draw
Birds, birds, birds... and other animals
I love drawing almost all animals (bugs and spiders scare me!), but I absolutely love drawing birds... as you may have noticed. I have lovebirds, budgies, cockatiels and pigeons. I also had cockatoos, owls and penguins, but with the overhaul of the business I had to make hard decisions. They will probably come back at some point... I think.
Cheeky & relatable
Relatable art that makes you smile
I like to put a smile on people's face, which is why I started adding cheeky puns or relatable text to my art. My nomming hamster eating a banana also makes people point at it and my overwhalmed T-shirt makes people agree instantly at the end of a long convention or market day.

Failed designs
Not everything will always go the way we think. While I absolutely loved drawing these lovebirds, products with this art did not sell well. At the time I was still figuring out what my style was and everything was a mixed bag of styles. Hence, the busines overhaul. Still love these cuties though.
Fictura Books
Self-publishing my books
My journey started with Fictura Books, because I started with self-publishing. While standing on several events I realized something I should have realized sooner. The books part in my name very much implies that I sell that, books. Which was correct in the beginning of my journey, but I wanted more.
Fictura Books still exists though. I still publish my work under that branding.
Currently I have only published picture books and coloring books, but I do have plans for more fantasy or sci-fi stuff. Those take longer to write though, so not any time soon.
I also still have a couple of picture book stories I have yet to fully illustrate. Pickle's adventures aren't over yet! When will they come... good question. I have as my boyfriend put it a production time deficit.
